Job Description
Intel Region Media is hiring for three (3) Editor positions in Ibadan. The available roles are:
- News & Current Affairs Editor
- Entertainment Editor
- Sports Editor
Each role offers a dynamic opportunity to lead engaging content creation, shape narratives, and maintain the highest editorial standards in a fast-paced media environment.
1. News & Current Affairs Editor
Responsibilities:
- Write timely, accurate, and impactful news reports.
- Edit and fact-check stories to uphold editorial standards.
- Coordinate coverage of breaking news and special features.
- Identify and shape emerging trends into compelling stories.
- Collaborate with multimedia creatives to enhance reporting.
- Monitor national and global events to keep Intel Region ahead of the curve.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Political Science, or related field.
- 2–5 years of newsroom/editorial experience.
- Strong knowledge of political, economic, and social issues.
- Excellent writing, editing, and fact-checking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced digital newsroom.
2. Entertainment Editor
Responsibilities:
- Write and edit engaging entertainment content (celebrity news, music, movies, lifestyle, and trends).
- Spot early trends and turn them into captivating stories.
- Collaborate with social and video teams to create multimedia content.
- Build strong relationships with influencers, entertainers, and publicists.
- Ensure originality and creativity in all published content.
- Drive audience growth through shareable and compelling storytelling.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field.
- 2–5 years of entertainment journalism/editorial experience.
- Strong passion for pop culture, film, and music.
- Excellent writing, editing, and headline-crafting abilities.
- Digital storytelling and social media expertise.
3. Sports Editor
Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee sports coverage (local and international).
- Manage and edit reports from sports contributors.
- Deliver match previews, reviews, and in-depth features.
- Produce interactive content with graphics, highlights, and analysis.
- Monitor breaking sports news and ensure timely coverage.
- Build strong networks with sports clubs, officials, and industry players.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Sports Administration, or related field.
- 2–5 years of sports journalism/editorial experience.
- Deep knowledge of football (local & international) and other major sports.
- Excellent analytical, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during live events.
