About the Provider
The Government of the Czech Republic, through its Foreign Development Cooperation programme, is offering fully funded scholarships for foreign nationals from selected developing countries. The scholarships support studies at public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic for the 2026/2027 academic year.
This long-standing initiative, running since the late 1950s, has enabled over 20,000 international students to pursue higher education in the Czech Republic. The programme is administered by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health.
Eligibility Requirements
Scholarships are available to applicants from the following countries:
- Europe: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces)
- Africa: Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia
- Asia: Cambodia, Sri Lanka
- Latin America & Middle East: Guatemala, Jordan
Available Study Programmes
- Programmes in Czech Language (includes 1-year Czech language preparatory course):
- Bachelor’s programmes (3–4 years) – available only to applicants from Georgia
- Follow-up Master’s programmes (2 years) – available to applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus
- Programmes in English Language (for all eligible countries):
- Selected Master’s programmes (2 years)
- Selected Doctoral programmes (3–4 years)
Note: Applicants may be required to pass university entrance examinations, which is a precondition for being awarded the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s Scholarship: Must have completed secondary education equivalent to the Czech school-leaving examination.
- Master’s Scholarship: Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree.
- Doctoral Scholarship: Must have completed a Master’s degree.
- Applicants for English-taught programmes must pass an online English language test during application submission.
- Open only to citizens of eligible developing countries (not open to Czech/EU citizens or permanent residents of the Czech Republic).

How to Apply
- All applicants must complete the electronic application form no later than 30 September 2025.
- The application is valid only after completing the general knowledge test and, if required, the English language test.
- Successful candidates will begin studies in the 2026/2027 academic year.
