A growing organization is seeking to hire a highly competent and experienced Tax Accountant with strong expertise in Nigerian tax regulations, accounting practices, and statutory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax compliance, supporting audits, reconciling tax accounts, and providing professional tax advisory services to ensure full regulatory compliance.

Experience with Lottery and Gaming tax regulations in Nigeria will be considered an added advantage.

Job Description

The Tax Accountant will oversee tax reporting, ensure compliance with Nigerian tax regulations, support audit processes, and provide strategic tax advisory services to management.

The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, experience working with regulatory bodies, and the ability to operate independently in a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file federal and state tax returns in compliance with Nigerian tax laws.
  • Liaise with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and relevant State Internal Revenue Services on tax matters.
  • Support and manage external tax and financial audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Prepare and assist with audited financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Provide tax advisory support to management on regulatory compliance, tax planning, and risk management.
  • Support Lottery and Gaming tax compliance and related regulatory requirements where applicable.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be a Chartered Accountant (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working as a tax professional or tax expert.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and compliance procedures.
  • Familiarity with Lottery and Gaming tax regulations in Nigeria is a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience handling tax audits and liaising with tax authorities.
  • Ability to prepare audited financial statements and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (data analysis, reconciliations, financial reporting).
  • High proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
