A company in the FMCG wholesale and retail sector is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage financial operations, ensure compliance, and provide strategic financial insights to support business growth.
Job Description
▪️ Manage payables and receivables – reconcile suppliers and customers, ensure timely payments, and minimize bad debt
▪️ Handle budgeting and forecasting – prepare monthly/quarterly forecasts, monitor actuals vs budget, and flag variances early
▪️ Oversee tax compliance – prepare and file VAT, CIT, PAYE, and other statutory returns accurately and on time
▪️ Support audits – prepare schedules, liaise with internal/external auditors, and resolve gaps promptly
▪️ Maintain accurate ledgers – manage general ledger, fixed assets, inventory valuation, and month-end close
▪️ Provide financial insights – deliver reports that guide management decisions
Qualifications & Requirements
✔️ Proven experience in FMCG wholesale and retail accounting
✔️ Strong understanding of margins, stock movement, and trade discounts
✔️ Solid knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
✔️ Working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory filings
✔️ Experience handling full audit cycles and year-end processes
✔️ Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel
✔️ Experience with SAP, QuickBooks, or Zoho is an added advantage
