Job Description

International Alert is seeking a motivated and research-driven intern to support its work at the intersection of child rights, responsible business conduct, business and human rights, and private sector engagement.

The role involves supporting programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, policy research, corporate advisory work, and knowledge management activities. The intern will work closely with diverse stakeholders including businesses, government agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners.

This position is ideal for candidates interested in human rights, sustainability, ESG, corporate responsibility, and development-focused research and advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Support

  • Assist in implementing child rights and responsible business projects.
  • Support coordination of meetings, workshops, trainings, and consultations.
  • Prepare project reports, briefing notes, presentations, and donor updates.
  • Maintain project documentation and support monitoring activities.

Research & Policy Analysis

  • Conduct desk research on child rights, ESG, business and human rights, and related topics.
  • Support review of legal and policy frameworks at national and international levels.
  • Contribute to policy briefs, research papers, and knowledge products.
  • Track emerging trends in corporate responsibility and sustainability.

Private Sector Engagement

  • Support engagement with companies, investors, industry associations, and business networks.
  • Assist in preparing presentations, proposals, and advisory materials for corporate partners.
  • Help organize business roundtables, consultations, and stakeholder dialogues.
  • Collect and analyze client feedback to improve programme delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Assist in stakeholder mapping and partnership development.
  • Support engagement with government agencies, NGOs, and development partners.
  • Prepare meeting notes, action trackers, and engagement reports.
  • Contribute to outreach and awareness activities.

Communications & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain databases and project records.
  • Support drafting of newsletters, reports, case studies, and communication materials.
  • Contribute to internal learning and documentation processes.

Administrative Support

  • Assist in logistics and coordination of programme activities.
  • Support filing, scheduling, and general administration.
  • Provide support to programme managers as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Human Rights, Business Management, International Development, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related field.

Core Skills

  • Strong research, analytical, and report-writing abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
