The Internal Auditor/Compliance Officer will evaluate and improve the organization’s risk management, internal control, governance, and regulatory compliance processes. The role involves conducting audits, identifying financial and operational risks, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and recommending improvements to strengthen internal controls.
Job Description
Audit Planning & Execution
Develop and implement the annual internal audit plan.
Conduct audits of financial, operational, compliance, and risk management processes.
Plan and execute audit engagements, including data analysis and testing.
Evaluate financial controls and operational effectiveness.
Risk Management
Perform risk assessments and internal control evaluations.
Identify operational and financial risks.
Develop recommendations to mitigate identified risks.
Documentation & Reporting
Review accounting records, financial statements, reports, and supporting documents.
Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations.
Present audit outcomes to management.
Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Monitor adherence to regulatory requirements.
Support statutory audits and regulatory compliance assessments.
Internal Controls
Evaluate and strengthen internal control systems.
Monitor implementation of audit recommendations.
Conduct follow-up audits to verify corrective actions.
Fraud Investigation & Asset Protection
Identify and investigate suspected fraud and financial irregularities.
Safeguard company assets.
Recommend improvements to prevent losses.
Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain communication with management and audit/risk committees.
Collaborate with external auditors, regulators, and relevant stakeholders.
Support the finance team on additional projects.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on audit standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
Recommend initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in internal auditing and compliance.
Thorough knowledge of:
Accounting Standards
Taxation
Regulatory Requirements
Strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems and spreadsheets.
Advanced proficiency in:
Microsoft Office Suite
Accounting software
Financial databases
Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications
CIA or Chartered Accountant certification.
Experience developing and executing audit plans.
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
