Job Description

PSHAN is seeking a creative, digitally skilled, and proactive NYSC Communications Intern to join its communications team in Lagos.

The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of communication strategies, digital content, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement activities aimed at increasing awareness of PSHAN’s work and communicating its impact to diverse audiences.

This role is suited to a strong storyteller who can translate complex health and development information into clear, engaging, and accessible content across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content for digital and traditional communication channels.
  • Manage PSHAN’s social media platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across social media and other communication channels.
  • Develop and manage strategic content schedules and engage with online audiences.
  • Support the planning and execution of communication campaigns, events, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Draft and edit newsletters, press releases, programme reports, executive briefs, and other communication materials.
  • Monitor online conversations and audience engagement across digital platforms.
  • Track communication and social media performance metrics and prepare regular reports.
  • Work closely with programme teams to transform technical health information into accessible and compelling stories.
  • Maintain and update the organisation’s website.
  • Develop and maintain a structured content calendar.
  • Support other communications activities as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a currently serving NYSC corps member available for full-time primary assignment in Lagos.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, engaging, and audience-appropriate content.
  • Practical experience in social media management, digital content creation, and online community engagement.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong visual communication and design skills.
  • Familiarity with digital analytics tools and the ability to interpret performance data to improve content strategies.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, meet deadlines, and contribute creative ideas.
  • Prior experience or exposure to the health, development, or public policy sector is an added advantage.
  • Strong storytelling and interpersonal communication skills.
