Job Description
ECOM Agroindustrial Corp Limited is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Shipping Assistant to support export container inspections, loading operations, documentation, and logistics coordination in Oyo State.
The successful candidate will help ensure that export containers meet the company’s quality, security, and compliance requirements before and during loading. The role involves inspecting empty containers, monitoring cargo stuffing, coordinating with warehouse personnel, maintaining accurate records, and preparing operational reports.
Key Responsibilities
Container Inspection and Preparation
- Inspect empty containers before loading and take clear photographs of the containers and drivers for documentation.
- Confirm that containers are properly lined with the required dry bags, corrugated boards, and kraft paper.
- Check the condition of high-security sealing hooks beneath container doors and reject containers that fail to meet required security standards.
- Conduct joint inspections with warehouse personnel to confirm container suitability for loading.
- Check ventilation holes, structural integrity, cleanliness, dryness, and overall cargo-worthiness before stuffing.
Loading Supervision and Logistics Coordination
- Monitor container stuffing to ensure compliance with company procedures and loading standards.
- Report stock levels of container-lining materials to the Logistics Department to prevent shortages.
- Prepare and submit daily reports on loaded trucks leaving the warehouse to the Port Tracking Team.
- Coordinate off-site operations, including container stuffing at designated terminals when required.
- Report damaged containers, security concerns, non-compliance, and other operational issues promptly to the Logistics Department.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain organised records and secure backups of inspection photographs and loading documents.
- Ensure inspection checklists and loading documents are properly completed, signed, filed, and accessible for future reference.
- Follow company safety, security, and export compliance procedures throughout loading operations.
- Support traceability and audit requirements by maintaining accurate operational records.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- An HND or bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, Maritime Studies, or a related discipline.
- Between 0 and 3 years of relevant experience in shipping, warehouse operations, logistics, or export documentation is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Nigerian export procedures is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), shipping lines, and export terminals is beneficial.
- Ability to use smartphones or other digital devices to capture, organise, and maintain inspection records.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and accuracy.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
