Job Description
Evans Industries Limited is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Factory Accountant to oversee financial operations within its manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will manage production-related accounting activities, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control. The role also involves providing financial insights that support operational efficiency, profitability, and compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Maintain accurate product and production costing systems.
- Monitor standard production costs against actual costs and analyze variances.
- Provide cost analysis to support pricing and business decisions.
Inventory & Production Cost Management
- Monitor and value raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
- Reconcile inventory records with physical stock counts and resolve discrepancies.
- Support periodic stock-taking exercises.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing factory budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare variance reports and financial projections.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare factory financial reports and performance dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and statutory regulations.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
Payroll & Labour Cost Management
- Work closely with HR and production teams to monitor labour costs.
- Analyze labour efficiency and its impact on manufacturing costs.
Fixed Assets Management
- Monitor capital expenditure on factory equipment and infrastructure.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with procurement, logistics, production, and stores teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in operational meetings by providing financial analysis and recommendations.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy of inventory and cost accounting records.
- Timely submission of monthly financial reports.
- Reduction in budget variances.
- Identification and implementation of cost-saving initiatives.
- Compliance with audit and internal control requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Or a related discipline.
Professional Certification
- ICAN, ACCA, or any recognized accounting certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in:
- Manufacturing accounting
- Production accounting
- Cost accounting
- Experience using ERP systems and inventory management processes.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as:
- SAP
- Sage
- QuickBooks
- Other ERP platforms
- Knowledge of inventory valuation and cost control techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail with a practical, hands-on approach.
