Job Description
Dettol Nigeria is seeking a highly driven Business Development Manager to lead sales performance, market development, and in-store presence across assigned territories. The role requires a strategic sales professional who can drive distribution, build strong relationships with distributors, monitor trade activities, and identify new business opportunities.
The ideal candidate will deliver stretch sales targets while ensuring execution of Reckitt’s trade initiatives across the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve key KPIs including sales, shipments, ECOs, and MSL targets.
- Collaborate with distributors and the Reckitt HQ team to deliver innovations and business goals.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of distributors and super stockists; take corrective actions where needed.
- Monitor distributor stock levels, sales performance, and trade receivables.
- Identify and develop new market opportunities through data analysis and field visits.
- Plan and implement structured area coverage strategies; review regularly for improvements.
- Track and report competitor activities within assigned locations.
- Forecast monthly brand/SKU sales to maintain optimal stock levels at distributor points.
- Train distributor sales teams on sales fundamentals and winning trade skills.
- Ensure accuracy and verification of all distributor data shared with Reckitt.
- Facilitate simple and efficient communication processes between Reckitt, supply chain, and distributor teams.
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support strategic sales planning and market expansion initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- BSc/HND in relevant fields.
- Proven experience as a Business Development Manager, Sales Executive, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of sales, distribution, and FMCG trade dynamics.
- Experience working in FMCG (international experience is an advantage).
- Customer-oriented mindset with strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
- Fluency in English and French.
- Ability to handle complexity and operate independently.
- Familiarity with Côte d’Ivoire geography and trade systems (added advantage).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and strong planning, time-management, and stakeholder management skills.
