Job Description
Jaza Energy is seeking a Finance Intern to support its Finance team in delivering efficient day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will assist with transaction processing, reconciliations, financial documentation, audit preparation, and month-end reporting activities while gaining practical experience in accounting and financial management.
Working closely with the Finance Lead, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams, the Finance Intern will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support
- Match supplier payments and customer receipts with invoices and supporting documents.
- Assist with vendor and customer account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of invoices, payment confirmations, and supporting documentation.
- Follow up on outstanding financial documents and transaction queries.
- Upload, organize, and maintain supplier invoices and receipts within Dext and other finance systems.
- Support reconciliation of employee advances and expense claims.
Month-End Close Support
- Assist with month-end reconciliations and journal documentation.
- Support bank and mobile money reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules and reports required for monthly financial reporting.
- Ensure assigned month-end tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
Audit & Compliance Support
- Monitor daily cash positions across bank and mobile money accounts.
- Assist in preparing monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Support banking operations and maintain relationships with banking partners.
- Assist in payment processing in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
- Coordinate cash funding activities with the Group Finance team when required.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Organize and retrieve financial documents for internal and external audits.
- Maintain organized finance records and documentation.
- Assist with finance process improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance department.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timely completion of assigned finance tasks.
- Accuracy and completeness of financial documentation.
- Timely support for month-end closing activities.
- Efficient audit preparation and documentation management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (completed or currently in progress).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt in a fast-paced workplace.
