Job Description
MECA is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to support its Finance and Accounts team. The successful candidate will gain practical experience in financial record-keeping, accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, reconciliations, and internal controls.
This role is suitable for an early-career professional looking to develop practical finance and accounting skills in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining financial records, schedules, and reports.
- Enter and update accounting and financial information accurately.
- Support bank, cash, supplier, customer, and other account reconciliations.
- Investigate and help resolve financial discrepancies.
- Assist with preparing invoices, payment documents, vouchers, and other financial records.
- Support accounts payable and receivable activities.
- Track outstanding balances and assist with payment processing.
- Assist with tax computations, schedules, returns, and statutory compliance documentation.
- Support audit preparation by compiling relevant financial documents and schedules.
- Conduct basic accounting and financial research.
- Assist with budgets, forecasts, cash-flow schedules, and financial analyses.
- Maintain organised and accessible financial documentation.
- Support compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the Finance team or supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation, and financial controls.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, or SAP is an added advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good organisational, time-management, and record-keeping skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
