This opportunity is suitable for recent Civil Engineering graduates or candidates with up to one year of relevant experience who want to build practical skills through exposure to construction, infrastructure development, project supervision, design, quality control, and engineering documentation.
Job Description
The Graduate Civil Engineer will support experienced engineers in the planning, design, execution, and supervision of civil engineering and construction projects.
The role provides hands-on exposure to project activities while allowing the successful candidate to develop technical, analytical, documentation, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects.
- Support site inspections and monitor construction activities for compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.
- Prepare engineering drawings, reports, calculations, and technical documents.
- Conduct site measurements, surveys, and data collection.
- Assist with project scheduling, cost estimates, and material take-offs.
- Monitor project progress and report delays or technical issues to supervisors.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in quality control inspections and testing.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Perform other engineering-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng. or B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 0–1 year of relevant work experience.
- Completed or currently serving NYSC, where applicable.
- SIWES, internship, or NYSC engineering experience is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods.
- Knowledge of structural, highway, or building construction fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD Pro, or ETABS is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Good report-writing and documentation skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
