Job Description
Nestoil Plc is seeking an experienced Group Litigation Counsel to oversee and manage all litigation and dispute resolution matters involving the company. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal guidance, mitigate risks, and represent the organization in negotiations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice on litigation and dispute resolution.
- Manage external counsel and oversee litigation processes.
- Minimize legal risk through proactive dispute resolution.
- Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and court cases.
- Conduct legal research and analyze precedents to guide case strategy.
- Develop and execute litigation and dispute resolution strategies.
- Advise on compliance, contractual disputes, and regulatory risks.
- Review and negotiate legal documents and court submissions.
- Deliver in-house training on Anti-Bribery, Anti-Trust, and compliance requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- LLB, BL; Postgraduate degree in Corporate Law is an added advantage.
- Must be qualified to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in litigation/dispute resolution at a top-tier law firm; additional in-house experience is an advantage.
- Strong expertise in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution under Nigerian law.
- Solid knowledge of contract law, regulatory compliance, environmental law, and health & safety standards.
- Ability to assess risks and align legal strategy with business objectives.
- Strong legal research and analytical skills.
- Experience handling multi-party disputes, joint ventures, and community-related claims.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and litigation strategy skills.
