Job Description

PIF Africa is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Consultant, Human Resource Management to support the design, implementation, and management of human resource systems for both the organization and its clients.

This fully remote role offers an excellent opportunity for early-career HR professionals to gain hands-on consulting experience across recruitment, organizational design, workforce planning, talent development, performance management, employee relations, HR policy development, and organizational effectiveness.

The successful candidate will collaborate with senior consultants and cross-functional teams to deliver practical, compliant, and well-documented HR solutions for clients across the private, public, and non-profit sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment, Workforce Planning & Onboarding

  • Support end-to-end recruitment activities, including job description development, candidate sourcing, interview scheduling, assessments, reference checks, and onboarding.
  • Draft job descriptions, competency frameworks, interview guides, and assessment tools.
  • Assist with workforce planning, reporting structures, hiring plans, and recruitment documentation.
  • Maintain recruitment databases, onboarding records, and hiring trackers.

Organizational Design & Performance Management

  • Support organizational structure design, reporting lines, and role mapping.
  • Assist in developing competency frameworks, KPIs, OKRs, performance scorecards, and accountability systems.
  • Help establish measurable performance expectations aligned with client objectives.

Learning, Talent Development & Succession Planning

  • Coordinate onboarding programmes and induction activities.
  • Identify training needs and support learning and development initiatives.
  • Assist with talent management, succession planning, promotion readiness, and leadership development tracking.
  • Maintain learning, probation, and talent management records.

Performance, Incentives & Employee Welfare

  • Support employee performance reviews and KPI monitoring.
  • Assist with bonus schemes, incentive programmes, employee welfare, leave administration, and compensation documentation.
  • Contribute to the implementation of advanced incentive structures under senior supervision.

HR Policies & Employee Relations

  • Draft and update HR policies, employee handbooks, templates, and internal communications.
  • Support leave management, disciplinary documentation, grievance handling, and employee relations activities.
  • Assist with resignation, termination, clearance, and exit interview processes.
  • Maintain confidential HR records and personnel files.

HR Advisory & Client Support

  • Support HR consulting engagements for clients across various sectors.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, HR diagnostics, policy documents, implementation plans, and client deliverables.
  • Attend meetings, document action points, and monitor implementation progress.
  • Stay informed on emerging HR trends, employment practices, and people management strategies.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Degree, diploma, or professional qualification in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Industrial Relations, Law, Finance, Management, or a related field.
  • 0–1 year of experience in HR, recruitment, administration, consulting, organizational development, or related fields (preferred).
  • Strong interest in human resource management and organizational development.
  • Excellent research, documentation, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Understanding of recruitment, onboarding, performance management, KPIs, employee welfare, and HR processes.
  • Ability to prepare HR documentation including job descriptions, policy manuals, onboarding materials, reports, and presentations.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and record management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Zoho Connect or Bitrix24 is an advantage.
  • Comfortable using AI productivity tools, including ChatGPT and AI meeting assistants.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and support evening or weekend engagements when required.
