Job Description
Fasken is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant / Law Clerk to provide administrative and legal support within a fast-paced law firm environment. The successful candidate will work under professional legal supervision to support lawyers and ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage email correspondence, calendars, meetings, and scheduling.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare expense reports, reconcile Visa tracking spreadsheets, and process invoices and disbursements.
- Maintain a bring-forward system and provide timely reminders.
- Draft initial correspondence and legal documents based on precedents and instructions.
- Ensure physical and electronic filing systems are properly organized and up to date.
- Liaise with and delegate tasks to other administrative departments when required.
- Provide backup support to other assistants during absences.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of a post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk programme.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a law firm.
- Strong understanding of legal and business terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Experience with 3E and iManage Work is required.
- Familiarity with SEDAR, SEDI, the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), and the National Registration Database (NRD) is an added advantage.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
