Job Description
FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, the producer of the renowned Peak Milk brand, is seeking a qualified Legal Officer to join its dynamic team. This role will support the company’s legal operations and corporate governance strategy by implementing FrieslandCampina’s global legal framework within the Nigerian context.
The Legal Officer will ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations, manage legal risks, oversee stakeholder relations, and contribute to company secretarial duties. Candidates must have a strong legal background, exceptional analytical abilities, and the confidence to interact with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure FrieslandCampina’s legal strategies are effectively implemented within Nigeria’s legal and business environment.
- Manage legal matters related to contract law, intellectual property, real estate, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Support the Company Secretary in executing secretarial functions and maintaining statutory obligations.
- Liaise with external counsel and third-party stakeholders on legal issues affecting the company.
- Promote the internal and external observance of FrieslandCampina’s Code of Ethics.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); advanced knowledge of Nigerian legal frameworks such as CAMA, SEC Act, FRC Act, and company law.
- 7–10 years of experience in a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel in an FMCG company.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken); additional Nigerian language proficiency is a plus.
- Strong commercial awareness, interpersonal communication, and collaboration skills.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to engage across all levels of the organization.
- An LL.M or membership in ICSAN is a significant advantage.
