Job Description

Optimus Bank is recruiting for the position of Trade Finance Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the bank’s trade transactions and ensuring smooth, reliable support across every stage of the customer’s trade value chain. The role also includes facilitating remittance activities and liaising with money transfer operators and the Central Bank of Nigeria on operational matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate and approve Form M transactions.
  • Establish, amend, and process payments for Letters of Credit, SBLCs, and Guarantees.
  • Manage Bills for Collection transactions.
  • Liaise with CBN to resolve operational issues.
  • Process export transactions and manage treasury product settlement/reconciliation.
  • Reconcile Nostro, settlement, and transit accounts.
  • Confirm and accept trade transactions on designated platforms.
  • Provide first-level approval for trade-related processes (e.g., invisibles payments, bills for collection).
  • Handle FX inflows and outflows in line with CBN guidelines.
  • Manage relationships with Webfontainne on the CBN portal.
  • Process and collect custom duty revenues.
  • Oversee correspondent bank account management.
  • Review, release, and process shipping documents and PAAR (Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ banking experience in trade finance or treasury operations.
  • Strong knowledge of the CBN FX manual for international settlement transactions.
  • Familiarity with banking manuals, regulations, and treasury product guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Confidence and proficiency in commercial banking operations.
