Job Description

The UNDP Digital, AI and Innovation Internship 2026 is now open to qualified candidates interested in gaining practical experience in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data, innovation, and international development.

This full-time remote internship offers interns the opportunity to work alongside global experts while contributing to impactful projects that support governments and UNDP Country Offices worldwide.

Successful candidates may be assigned to one or more of the following workstreams:

Key Responsibilities

Systems Transformation & Innovation

  • Conduct research on innovation, systems transformation, and emerging policy trends.
  • Support the design and documentation of innovative policy and programme approaches.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives and thought leadership.

Programme Delivery & Capacity Building

  • Support digital, data, and AI initiatives across UNDP Country Offices.
  • Develop learning materials, toolkits, and implementation guides.
  • Assist in organizing webinars, workshops, and capacity-building programmes.

Data Policy & Governance

  • Research data governance frameworks and responsible data practices.
  • Draft policy briefs, analytical reports, and guidance documents.
  • Monitor global developments in digital governance and data policy.

Data Analytics & Insights

  • Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret datasets.
  • Develop dashboards, trackers, and data visualizations.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities.

Partnerships & Strategic Communications

  • Research potential strategic partners and collaboration opportunities.
  • Prepare communication materials, concept notes, proposals, presentations, and partnership documents.
  • Develop content for newsletters, blogs, social media, and other communication platforms.

Process Efficiency & Resource Management

  • Track project milestones, work plans, and deliverables.
  • Develop internal guidance documents, dashboards, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support project planning, monitoring, and operational reporting.

Product Design, Build & Management

  • Assist in designing digital platforms, applications, and AI-powered solutions.
  • Support product development, testing, implementation, and user feedback.
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and project teams.

Research & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain digital knowledge platforms and repositories.
  • Produce research summaries, briefing notes, and knowledge products.
  • Support dissemination of research and digital resources across UNDP teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following educational criteria:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate degree programme (Master’s or equivalent).
  • Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree programme.
  • Have graduated from a Bachelor’s or postgraduate programme and be able to commence the internship within one year of graduation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in digital technologies, AI, innovation, data analytics, public policy, communications, or related fields.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with database management or digital tools is an added advantage.
