Job Description

Foodco Limited is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join its Finance Leadership Development Programme. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates and early-career finance professionals who are eager to build practical experience in accounting, financial analysis, auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting within a dynamic retail organization.

The successful candidate will receive structured on-the-job training while working alongside experienced finance and audit professionals to develop both technical expertise and professional skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain practical knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting, and audit processes.
  • Assist in evaluating product and branch profitability through financial analysis.
  • Support risk assessment and risk maturity evaluations.
  • Learn to develop and implement internal audit strategies.
  • Participate in risk-based and independent audit activities.
  • Work closely with finance managers and supervisors to develop technical and leadership competencies.
  • Assist in preparing management accounting reports for business decision-making.
  • Perform data entry, financial record maintenance, and document filing.
  • Support financial data compilation and analysis for internal and external audits.
  • Assist with departmental budget preparation.
  • Learn and utilize relevant accounting and financial software applications.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of Second Class Lower or equivalent academic qualification.
  • 0–2 years of post-NYSC experience.
  • Maximum age of 27 years.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and data interpretation skills.
  • Experience using spreadsheets, databases, and financial software is desirable.
  • Student membership of ICAN, ACCA, or CFA will be considered an added advantage.
