Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist Internship Program is designed to provide structured, supervised practical training for recent graduates in Medical Laboratory Science.

The program aims to:

  • Bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world laboratory practice
  • Strengthen technical laboratory and diagnostic skills
  • Prepare interns for professional registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
  • Promote ethical and professional standards in medical laboratory practice

Interns will work under qualified supervisors who assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and support professional development throughout the program.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will be involved in supervised laboratory duties, which may include:

  • Assisting in routine laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures
  • Handling and processing biological samples under supervision
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation
  • Supporting quality control and assurance procedures
  • Assisting in equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Participating in laboratory safety and compliance practices
  • Learning and applying standard laboratory protocols and techniques
  • Engaging in training sessions and professional development activities

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be a recent Nigerian graduate in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS)
  • Degree must be obtained from a recognized institution (local or international)
  • Must possess a valid provisional license from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and work under supervision

Program Requirements

  • Recommendation letter from applicant’s institution is required
  • Internship duration is 12 months
  • Applicants will undergo screening and possible aptitude/skills tests
  • Final selection depends on performance and available slots
