Job Description

Applications are invited for the UNOPS Graduate Trainee Program 2026, specifically under the STEM Trainee track based in Abuja, Nigeria.

The program is designed to equip young graduates with practical experience in energy access, climate finance, data analysis, and sustainable development project implementation.

Key Areas of Placement

  • Energy access and sustainability initiatives
  • Climate finance and renewable energy projects
  • Data analysis and monitoring systems
  • Gender and youth-responsive energy programs
  • Policy and stakeholder engagement

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Operations

  • Support implementation of energy-focused development initiatives
  • Assist in coordination of meetings, field activities, and project execution
  • Participate in energy audits, site visits, and needs assessments

Financial Platform & Data Support

  • Assist in validating project data and financial entries
  • Support development of financial models and analysis
  • Track funding flows and renewable energy investments

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Conduct data collection and market research
  • Support performance tracking and reporting activities
  • Analyze user feedback and system performance

Policy & Advocacy Support

  • Contribute to sustainable energy finance initiatives
  • Support stakeholder engagement and policy advocacy
  • Assist in climate finance research and reporting

Communications Support

  • Create content for social media and digital platforms
  • Support visibility of sustainability initiatives
  • Develop reports, visuals, and advocacy materials

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 3 years) from a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program
  • Degree in STEM-related fields (Engineering, Data Science, Renewable Energy, GIS, Sciences, or related disciplines)
  • No prior work experience required (advantageous if available)
  • Strong interest in climate finance, energy systems, or development work
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and professional environment
  • Strong computer literacy and data handling skills
