Job Description

The Credit Control Officer will be responsible for managing credit documentation, ensuring compliance with lending requirements, and supporting the overall quality of the bank’s credit portfolio. The role involves coordinating with internal teams to ensure proper loan processing, collateral management, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all pre-disbursement conditions for approved loans, bonds, and guarantees are met
  • Verify compliance confirmations from Relationship Teams before credit availment
  • Recommend loan setup and facilitate timely communication with relevant units
  • Monitor deferrals and waivers, ensuring proper tracking and regularization
  • Manage and review collateral documentation for completeness and adequacy
  • Coordinate submission of documents to the Legal Services Department for perfection
  • Track collateral perfection and follow up on incomplete documentation
  • Review valuation reports to ensure assets used as collateral are valid and up-to-date
  • Confirm insurance coverage on collateral before loan disbursement
  • Ensure compliance with internal information security policies
  • Support asset quality management and capital adequacy optimization
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Credit Risk and Control leadership

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A, B.Sc, or HND)
  • Degree in Law or any discipline with a strong legal background is preferred
  • Additional qualification in a business-related field is an advantage

Experience:

  • At least 2–3 years of relevant banking experience
